Who We Are

About Our Basketball Programs and extras: Winter Basketball Program • Ages 12-16 • Free of charge to all participants* • Runs December-March • Play at indoor HYCC gym • 10 teams w/ NBA names and logos • 10 game regular season w/ best 2 of 3 playoffs & awards • Certified referees and qualified volunteer coaches • League and team awards including: MVP, DPOY, ROY, MI • All-star game, rising star game, 3-point shootout, skills challenges Summer Basketball Program • Two age divisions, 11-13 & 14-16 • Only $25 to play* • Runs end of June – mid August • Play at outdoor HYCC courts • 4-6 teams in each division w/ colored jerseys • 10 game regular season w/ playoffs & awards • Certified referees and qualified volunteer coaches • League awards including: MVP, DPOS, MI Shea’s YBA Hall of Fame • Each year, SYBA names 5 players who have aged out of the program to be selected to the SYBA Hall of Fame • Players receive recognition at our Beyond Basketball event, an award plague w/ photo of player, along with their name and number printed on the SYBA Hall of Fame Banner displayed at the HYCC • Players who qualify must have completed all Lend a Hand commitments, been named an all-star at least once, had no disciplinary issues, represent the league appropriately About Our Extra Commitment: Lend a Hand Program • Each participant is required to complete at least one “Lend a Hand” community service project with our program to be eligible to play for free, although we encourage players to complete multiple projects throughout the season • Complete 4-6 projects for winter basketball • Complete 2-4 projects for summer basketball • Projects consist of but are not limited to: residential property dump clean-ups, beach clean-ups, yard projects, small home improvement projects, general support projects, along with many others! • Organizations we’ve worked with include: AmeriCorps of Cape Cod, Housing Assistance Corporation, Cape Cod Council Boy Scouts of America, Cape Cod Child Development, Master Gardener Program of CapeCod, MSPCA Cape Cod, Dennis Historical Society, and many more! Beyond Basketball Event • Required event for all Winter Basketball Program participants • Meant to educates participants on one, or multiple of the following topics: substance abuse prevention and awareness (primary topic), crime prevention, importance of diet and exercise, importance of academics, proper uses of social media, & anti-bullying initiatives, all focusing on the connection between sports, education, and living a healthy lifestyle • Event utilizes guest speakers to provide first-hand personal stories of their struggles with these topics and their perseverance through it all • Event also includes any rule changes, players find out their teams, and the program inducts 5 players to the SYBA Hall of Fame

What We Do

Shea’s YBA is a youth development program that primarily utilizes volunteers to provide free programs including basketball leagues, mentoring services, and community outreach projects that educate participants on the importance of camaraderie, responsibility, teamwork, sacrifice, and respect for self as well as others.
